You must use MP3's to have any sort of useful browsing functionality. I found it will play m4a (AAC) files from iTunes, but it won't read their metadata or let you browse/sort them by anything other than name. ![]() There are some weird quirks about flash drives:įile Format: It likes MP3's. Personally I like this option better because it doesn't require me putting my phone in the glove box or leaving the glove box open to use the phone. You can choose to store a bunch of music on a flash drive and just leave it in the glove box if you want. It also will not allow you to use voice controls. and stop, start, toggle shuffle, and skip music.īluetoothing to your music player will not allow you to browse the player, only skip and go back songs. You can browse playlists, artists, albums, songs, etc. You won't be able to browse or control 3rd party apps like Spotify (unless you have one of those fancy internet connected stereos, but that's not what we're talking about here). Plug your 30-pin (old "iPhone 4 connector") or Lightning (new tiny one) cable into your phone and the port, and your stereo will have access to all the music stored on the device. If you plug in a flash drive, it can play the songs stored on it, if you plug in an apple device, it will allow play the music from the device and allow you to browse and control it with the tune/scroll dial, steering wheel controls, and voice command. You can plug in a flash drive full of music or an iPod/iOS based device. Alas, it does, and it's hidden deep within the glove box. It's well hidden, and for a while I was convinced mine didn't have one. The first thing I tried to do was find the damned USB port. Note that a lot of this seems to apply universally to all Chrysler vehicles with UConnect systems. I'm going to post everything I wanted to know and found out and everything I still want to know in hopes that others can benefit from what I learned and help me out with what I don't know. The Jeep folks should have all of their engineers and programmers locked in a room and being flogged as we speak. So I just got a brand new Compass, and while searching for information about the onboard stereo system, I found information was hard to find. I'll order another one in 6 or 8 months when they get their crap together. A nice big screen is worthless if it don't frigging work. This is simply amateur hour in the electronics department. There is NO excuse in today's world to have issues with a damned radio maintaining settings, rebooting, and generally doing weird crap and a Bluetooth that won't talk to a frigging phone. And this whole issue with Uconnect and all of the problems with the 8.4AN radio people are having is probably going to keep me from picking up the '14 we ordered and which went to shipping this week. If your phone ain't connecting it's Uconnect. The Bluetooth in my '11 JGC and in my wife's '10 Chevy Equinox is working fine with her iPhone 5 and the latest IOS update she got a few days ago and also with my Droid Razr with the latest Jelly Bean update I got last Tuesday. ![]() It's not a Apple problem, it's not a Android problem, it's not a Verizon problem, it is a Uconnect problem. but ANY Bluetooth hands free device and phone should be able to pair automatically after the first time and receive and make hands free calls. ![]() I know there can be some issues with contact lists, etc. If there is a problem it is with Uconnect, not the phones. Bluetooth is a standard and all Bluetooth devices should meet the same basic standard for hands free phone operation. ![]()

![]() Abridged audiobooks exist for the purpose of quickening the listening time for the audience. However, that’s not to say that abridged audiobooks no longer have a place in the industry. “the industry is now asking for unabridged books almost exclusively“ – Shari Nakagawa, Ebook and Audiobook Manager, Orca Book Publishers ![]() Orca Book Publishers’ Ebook and Audiobook Manager, Shari Nakagawa, told us that they no longer produce abridged audiobooks and that “the industry is now asking for unabridged books almost exclusively.” In recent years, the audiobook industry has seen an overall decline in the distribution of abridged audiobooks. It didn’t become apparent that unabridged versions were what the vast majority of audiences wanted until many years into the growth of audiobook popularity. Therefore, the majority of the audiobooks were first offered in an abridged format, then in an unabridged format, just in case there were some listeners who were seeking out the full version. It’s believed that abridged audiobooks had their time to shine near the beginning of the audiobook boom ( late 90s and early 2000s) because producers thought their listeners wouldn’t stick around for 10+ hours of narration. What to Consider When Choosing Your Next Audiobook Publishing Format? Abridged versus Unabridged Audiobooks Abridged Audiobooks: Advantages and Disadvantages What Genres Use Abridged and Unabridged Audiobook Publishing Formats? We’ll do just that – objectively highlight the pros and cons of each, the biggest use cases for each, and provide audiobook industry insight about when abridged and unabridged versions are most used. And since it’s quite a debatable subject, remaining objective about the needs of the audience and the pros and cons of each publishing format is critical. What you might not know, however, is which to use for your next audiobook project. Unabridged refers to the full literary work remaining untouched.) (Let’s recap, really quickly, just in case: Abridged effectively means shortened without sacrificing any of the major themes of the book.
